  Guitar instructor formerly of Boutilier's Music Shop in Sydney River from 1991 to 2000 offering private lessons in the Coxheath area just outside of Sydney since 2000, from beginners to advanced, lessons are 5 days a week, Monday to Friday, 4:00PM to 9:00PM , 21 years teaching experience, have been playing guitar and playing in bands for over 30 years, have many references, most students want to learn their favourite songs which is fun, that is the whole point of learning, for the enjoyment, that's why I still play and am playing in bands today but at the same time I try to encourage students especially younger students to balance their lessons with some knowledge of music theory, reading music notation and proper technique, it gives the student more of a solid foundation to build upon in understanding the guitar and music in general, I realize not all students are interested in this and just want to learn basic chords and strumming patterns to learn the tunes they want to play which is fine also, there are many successful musicians and people who play for fun who have no formal training whatsoever that are great players but the way I figure it the more you know the better off you'll be, with regular and serious practice a student should see their skill level progress over a relatively short time, I teach all ages, it's never too late to learn, I've taught many adults over the years, also parents are more than welcome to sit in on their child's lessons, lessons are usually one on one but if asked I will teach two students at once, for more intermediate and advanced students I teach many styles from light rock, hard rock, neoclassical rock( rock with classical influences), heavy metal, also blues, country, folk, fingerstyle guitar(fingerpicking) and slide guitar(commonly associated with blues, country and rock guitar), I also touch on classical and jazz, note reading and theory such as chord theory, scales and modes, harmony and how they all relate to each other is optional, also advanced techniques such as sweep picking, tapping, string skipping, arpeggios etc. is offered, thanks for checking out my ad.
